Building my first PC, I've been asking questions on vent, but I'd figure I would do it here as well to get a list of the parts I need, I figure it would be end of summer maybe beginning of winter before I finish buying the parts as I only get payed around 200 every two weeks and buying this one part at a time, and am going to be buying the Vid Card last or next to last due to power supply, so I can get pretty much the best one for just under 500$. I basically just need help and a list of what I should get as I have no idea what I might be missing, no I havent done any reading on it yet. I am buying everything from Case to monitor, keyboard and mouse, (maybe speakers, and will possibly get a razor mouse, For Gamers By Gamers. Right Lith?) anyways yea some help would be awesome, here is what I have pretty much decided on so far...
Case: Antec 1200 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129043&cm_re=antec_1200-_-11-129-043-_-Product (Sitting in the house waiting for other parts)
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188046 (Sitting in the house waiting for other parts)
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202 (Sitting in the house waiting for other parts)
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227424 (Sitting in the house waiting for other parts)

DON'T FORGET YOUR MEDIC GUN!
I just built a new computer so I might be able to help you more than some of these "more experienced" losers. If I'm arround I'll be happy to answer questions only a newb could answer. Like... does it matter which ribon wires connect to which SETA ports? When I asked that question Lith tells me "SETA ports are for information". Thanks Lith!
GL Riatt, I'm sure you'll be converted into the "build only" category like I was. Either that or you'll go MAC.
SATA bro SATA I applaud your effort either way tho.

Would you like your computer with a custom paint job or not? WoW taught me that looks > preformance, and a majority of everyone agrees!
Like I said if your buyin piece by piece, newegg deals as they show can help, but making a list and going by it may work better for your first time.
Also, remember, everything you buy new now was outdated last year.

don't gimp out on anything if u want a beast computer. otherwise it'll choke all ur other parts into submission and shit on it. makes me sad how quickly my laptop overheats. shits all over my graphics card and laughs and decides the video card is really just a picture card.

Actually I was asking you about the theoretical Singularity Engine Time Accelerator.
Look it up.
Here I'll do it for you.
"This product is based on the phenomenon of time and space anomaly observed in the presence of singularity. The SETA is an attachment to the ship's normal operational engine, which can, when activated, compress time up to ten fold. Due to the constrains of the space warp it is not possible to alter one's course and velocity due to time compression and the device will be deactivated as soon as any interference to the ship's controls are detected. The invention was clearly made to shorten travel across vast distances. No known side effects exist but they can not be ruled out."

My recomendations:
i7 is a really nice CPU and will last you a long time. The 920 is the lower model but is still excellent.
This is going to be an important decission because this will dictate what socket MOBO you need to purchase, which in turn dictates what RAM and other components need to be run. So if the i7 is out of your price range just PM me and I can help you build a nice Core 2 that will run these new games and run you a lot less money, but won't stand the test of time as hardware evolves quickly.
CPU: i7 920 (http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=34598&vpn=BX80601920&manufacture=Intel&promoid=1210)- Review (http://www.thinkcomputers.org/old/index.php?x=reviews&id=921)- Another Review (http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/11390-intel-core-i7-nehalem-920-940-965-xe-processor-review.html)
You can get better MOBOs but they cost you, this one is very nice still a bit pricey but your MOBO isn't something you wanna cheap out on because its the body that holds all your priceless babies together.
MOBO: EVGA X58 (http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=34943&promoid=1210&vpn=132%2DBL%2DE758%2DA1&manufacture=eVGA)- Review (http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=3459)
You can easily buy cheaper low quality RAM, but if you plan to over clock high quality low latency RAM is required for stability.
RAM: OCZ Gold 6GB triple channel low latency (http://www.ncixus.com/products/35710/OCZ3G1600LV6GK/OCZ%20Technology/)- Review (http://www.guru3d.com/article/-ddr3-pc312800-gold-6gb-lowvoltage-triple-channel-review/1)
You can save some cash and want a great HD get this:
HD: WD 1TB (http://www.ncixus.com/products/?sku=31000&vpn=WD1001FALS&manufacture=Western%20Digital%20WD&promoid=1210) - Review (http://techreport.com/articles.x/15363)
But if you have extra cash and like faster load times then get this:
HD: 300GB Velociraptor (http://ncixus.com/products/36681/WD3000HLFS/Western%20Digital%20WD/)
A good power supply will last you through many PCs and will allow you to run the top end video cards. Cheaping out on the PS can mean shorts and potentially burning out your mobo.
PS: Corsair TX850w (http://www.ncixus.com/products/35156/CMPSU-850TX/Corsair/)
This is where you get to save the money if you need to. If you stick to EVGA and just get the 250 to begin with, when you get caught up on cash you have 6 months to upgrade and only have to pay the difference. It is an excellent program and EVGA offers a lifetime warranty on your cards. They are my favorite company to deal with.
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTS 250 (http://www.ncixus.com/products/43087/512-P3-1153-TR/eVGA/)

Ya, it's only 90 days. On top of that, it's not avaliable to all thier cards. They only offer a step-up option for a select few.
However the card Psyph posted the, GeForce GTS 250 (512-P3-1150-TR) does qualify.

Really? Back when I bought my 8800gt, 6months later I upgraded to the 9800 gtx2 for upgrade price but it makes sense that they would change that because 6months would be about the same time frame as their new releases. Either way the upgrade program is a very nice feature if your not happy with performance, and lifetime warranty is pretty nice too.

I know this is an old thread, but ive recently acquired some money to finish this project, the parts I have in the original post is what I have so far, I believe I need HD, Monitor, sound card?, keyboard, mouse,Video Card, power supply, and a Heat Sink for cpu, I think that is all that I need to finish this and start a really nice gaming rig.
with HD im looking into: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136555&cm_re=velciraptor-_-22-136-555-_-Product but newegg is sold out atm so I guess:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136375&cm_re=velciraptor-_-22-136-375-_-Product
Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005126
Sound Card: I have no idea what to look for or if i even need one.
keyboard and mouse: ill just buy something from Razorzone.com looking into the naga for mouse
Video Card: I was looking into a evga 295? but I cant seem to find it on newegg anymore so I guess whatever Is around 500$ and is top of the line gaming for that much is what i need. maybe: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130552?
Power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139007
and heat sink: ? i honestly dont know what to look for there either
DVD Rom: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827106276
So any input on those items that I have left to buy would be awesome, at most Im looking to finish this with around 1500$ which is roughly what I have acquired... also I dont know of any accessories i might need like that silver paste for the CPU? is that needed? stuff like that I know I will want cable ties but that i can get a walmart..... also i plan to get an extra fan for the door of the case. First ever build so sorry for all the questions.

I'm not sure if you need another sound card. I'm pretty sure the one built into your motherboard is good enough. Also, you might want to get a CD-ROM drive or whatever too for your initial installation of windows/etc. As for the heatsink and thermal paste, your CPU or heatsink will most likely come with some.
PS: I think another fan might be overkill. The Antec 1200 has what? 5 fans already?
