Computer will not boot. Power flickers on and off repeatedly briefly spinning the fans. My POST LCD screen reads CPU INIT and stops there and restarts.
Any ideas are welcome...
Does not appear to be any loose wires/connections
Nothing randomly in the case shorting it out after looking and short of removing the mobo from case
I have swapped multiple video cards and ram sticks in and out.

CPU INIT: I'm going to make a wild guess and that means CPU Initialize, and the fact it's rebooting there might mean the problem is the processor. Which would be weird, you'd be the first guy I know who's processor broke before the RAM or HD or PSU. Was the heatsink exceptionally dusty when you first removed the case? It might have burned out due to heat and poor ventilation. That's the only thing I can think of that'd case the CPU to die.

The cmos error decodes are the ram voltage is stealing to much power to let the cpu boot...
There is dust, but nothing serious...if its toast ill be out of commission for some time

The notorious CPU INIT error is caused when your CPU is not receiving enough power to initiate. This is because on most high performance RAM modules, they require a slightly higher level of voltage than most motherboards are defaulted to (mobos will default to a maximum of 1.6V for memory generally) when these particular sticks of RAM require a minumum of 1.9V. When your RAM doesn't receive enough power, it will draw what is required from your CPU's power source. This is the reason your CPU will not initiate (and without a CPU you can't use your machine of course) resulting in the CPU INIT error. This is a huge design flaw in ASUS boards which is quite suprising, considering the boards are designed for enthusiasts.

ram voltage should always be determined by manufacturer, check there
also since you have the time to do it, start troubleshooting.
first reset your cmos, if you dont have a reset button, unplug the power from ur comp, take your battery out for 15min, while still unplugged, press the power button, put the battery back in, see if you can boot
if not then use only your video card, cpu, and 1 stick of ram, see if you can boot.. if not still, try a different stick of ram just in case - make sure everything else is unplugged from the motherboard
with everything coming apart anyhow might want to check for any burnt/bent pins on your cpu, and reseat it while your in the process of doing this stuff
lastly if none of that works, go to best buy or wherever, buy a PSU, test it to see if you boot, if no different results, call asus
think thats about all the troubleshooting you can do by yourself
**just got home from a long drive** , but were you able to boot or are you posting the other info from a different comp?
***also asus might cover your mobo if its a known issue with them, call, try to get a chick on the phone ..and be very nice :P

Take your ram out and see if you get beeps. If you do Your motherboard is fine. Next, If you have thermal paste handy you can pop off your Heat sink and turn on your power and touch the CPU. Don't let it run but just for a few seconds...but if you feel heat then the CPU is fine.
Odds are your PSU is out though. You can do the things mentioned just to hold you over untill you can go to Bestbuy or somewhere to get a new PSU to test.

Did you try the other things? Did your MOBO beep when you try and boot with no ram installed?

there is no post beep speakering my system. Its an lcd bios readout for issues. Booting with no ram does not removed the cpu init message from the screen
